This full-time position is part of the Quality Control and Assurance department. The Lab technician will be responsible for conducting quality checks and microbiological analyses.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The role includes, but is not limited to:
· Conducting product quality checks for fresh and aged products, including: alcohol by volume, specific gravity, pH levels, dissolved gas concentration, turbidity, bottle/can fill volumes, seam checks on cans, etc.
· Sterile sample collection from tanks and organizing the sample archive.
· Performing microbiology tests, including spread plating, PCR analysis, and media preparation.
· Cleaning and sterilizing glassware, maintaining lab cleanliness, restocking consumables, and performing routine equipment maintenance.
· Organizing beer tastings for colleagues.
· Covering lab manager duties when the manager is unavailable.
· Identifying and recommending process improvements.
· Assisting in other areas of the brewery as needed.
Qualifications:
· A degree (or progress toward a degree) in Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
· Experience in brewing process control and beer quality assessment is a plus.
· Knowledge of HACCP and LEAN principles.
